The ACUHO-I STARS COLLEGE: A Unique Opportunity for RAs Considering Housing and Residence Life as a Profession

Submitted by Gary Schwarzmueller, Executive Director, ACUHO-I

Do you have staff who are interested in pursuing a career in housing? If so, an exciting opportunity awaits via The STARS COLLEGE that will take place as part of this year’s annual conference.

The STARS COLLEGE will accommodate 36 current sophomores and juniors who are interested in pursuing a career in housing.

The STARS COLLEGE is a two-day experience blending large group presentations and small mentoring groups. There will also be post-STARS participation as well as continuation of the newly cultivated relationships. Each participant will be asked to have an "on-campus mentor," who will also play a vital role. The whole experience will be highly interactive and will hopefully promote the Housing profession as a viable career option.

The STARS COLLEGE will take place prior to the ACUHO-I Conference on Friday, June 27 and Saturday, June 28 at the beautiful Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. Remember…this exciting, innovative learning experience is limited to 36 individuals. Priority consideration will be given to applications received by April 1, 2003.

All ACUHO-I member institutions should have received a cover letter, STARS COLLEGE information, and application materials in the mail earlier this month.

Additional information about the college is available in the February 2003 issue of the Talking Stick or can be obtained through the ACUHO-I Central Office.
