Reslife.Net launches New On-Line Subscription Based Services for Resident Assistants

By Terri Scanlon, Managing Director, Reslife.Net

We’re all looking for ways to make our lives a bit easier. Life is hectic and adding in the R.A. job only adds to the pressure. To make life just a bit easier, Reslife.Net is offering a level of subscription-based services for Resident Assistants that will start in September and run through April 2002.

We’ve put together an innovative bundle of services and resources that we think you will like, which can be purchased by housing and residence life departments for their staff members. The cost for the service is $10 per R.A. for the 8-month period.

On-Line In-service Training in the "Loving the Learnin" Area

You’ll "love the learnin" when it’s on-line and convenient. The service will offer a series of 8 in-service training programs, that you can complete independently at times when it is convenient to you. The trainers for these programs are highly rated presenters from around the nation. The on-line courses will be linked through message boards to permit communication between class members and the program trainer.

On-Line Programming Resources in the "Virtual Programming" Area

We know that from time to time even the most successful programmers on staff need fresh ideas. We also know about those R.A.s who could be described as "programming challenged".

Every month 10 new programming plans and ideas with canned advertising will be loaded into the subscription-based services "Virtual Programming" area. Each program plan will include an overall program description and "to do" list, along with assessment information on workload requirements, targeted numbers of participants, approximate length of program, and overall program summary information.

Stress Management and Life Balance Information

We know you’re stressed, and at points we know you try to do too much. That’s why we’re providing information on stress management and life balance.

This component of the subscription based services bundle will consist of downloadable audio feed relaxation and guided visualization exercises, as well as educational information about stress management and finding life balance.

The downloadable audio feed information will require access to high-speed Internet connections, or individuals using the service could experience long download delays and problems.

Again, we’ve worked to get excellent quality individuals who will provide this information to us. Facilitated by Michele Collins-Davies, a certified life coach, and Leah Cooper, facilitator of stress management workshops/training, these offerings will rotate throughout the 8-month subscription period, with life balance information being offered for 4 of the 8 months, and stress management information being offered for 4 of the 8 months.

Monthly Planning Guide: Rules of the Road

As a final part of the subscription based service bundle, we’ll get you thinking in advance about the things you need to know in the job. We’re hoping that this information will help you plan for and anticipate the normal things that happen as part of the RA job.

You Can Check These Services Out…

In mid-June you’ll be able to preview these new services. The service will only be available to registered members later in the summer. Just enter the RA page, click on the subscription based services button on the right hand side of the site, and check out the new things that will be offered this year.

To gain access to the subscription service area, you will need to complete a short registration form.
