Stress Relief with Stress Balls

Submitted by Yaffa Seiden, Resident Assistant, St. Mary's College of Maryland

Materials: flour, bowls, rice, scissors, and balloons

In this program residents make stress balls that they can keep.

Combine the flour and a little bit of rice into a big bowl. Use the straws to push the flour and rice into the balloon until the person is satisfied with the size of their stress ball, then tie the balloon in a knot. The person picks out a second balloon and cuts the stem of the balloon off. Finally, you wrap the cut balloon around the stress ball. This program brings in lots of interest because it doesn’t take long to make and residents get something to keep.
