Depression

Submitted by Shenika Price, Resident Assistant, Georgia Southwestern State University

The program itself is easy to put together. All you need is a speaker from your school's (or other location) counseling department to come in to speak to the group about depression. The advertising is the fun part. Create a note that is not addressed to anyone, which says something such as:

Hey,
I was wondering if you could meet with me in the lobby at 7:00 on ??/??/2003. I need someone to talk to. I feel so sad. I can't eat, or study and I feel so tired all the time. I hope you will be there.

Your friend,
Sue

Make copies of the note and slide them under the resident’s doors. When the residents show up they will learn about depression from the speaker!
