Program
Possibilities: Cocktails with a Twist Program
By Jeannine
Veasey, Resident Assistant, Seton Hall University
For this
program I advertise a mocktail party “with a twist” not
revealing what the surprise will be. As the students arrive each are
given a mocktail in a plastic cup, some cups will have a marking on
the bottom and those will be given out randomly. The students will socialize
for a while enjoying their drinks, music, and refreshments. After everyone
arrives and has relaxed for a while I turn down the music and announce
that the mark on the bottom of the cup represents a roofie, and anyone
who had one of those cups was drugged that night. Each student will
be handed a packet of information on date rate and date rape drugs.
The purpose
of the program is to show students how easy it would be to be drugged
at party and to give them valuable information on how to protect themselves.
