Cans For A Cone

Around Thanksgiving set up to collect cans to give to different charities for the holiday season. In order to get people to donate, offer to give them an ICE CREAM CONE for 2 cans of food or if they have no cans they can donate a dollar and get ice cream, which you then use to purchase more canned goods. Work with your dining service or a local ice cream establishment to get the ice cream and cones donated, and include them as a sponsor of your program. Set a specific time/s for can collections, collect donations and hand out the ice cream cones. This program is a good way to get your school and residents involved in providing for the poor.
