Door Tag Idea: Resident Photos

Submitted by Rahul Chaudhari, Resident Assistant, UMass Dartmouth

Things you need:

  • A digicam for about 1 hour. Even if you don't have one most universities rent them or you can borrow one from a friend. I would recommend a 2 mega pixel digicam, although 1 mega pixel might serve the purpose as well.
  • A little knowledge of any Image editing Software, plus the software and computer access
  • 2 - 3 email addresses for opening accounts at www.Shutterfly.com

Cost:

About $5 for 45 door tags

Procedure:

Click photographs of your residents and transfer them to your computer. You may use existing photographs too if the resident really likes it. The photographs can be funky, serious, cool, role-playing, depending upon what the resident wants.

Add the residents name to it, after you have transferred it to your computer.

Open accounts at www.shutterfly.com. This website gives you 15 free 4x6 prints per account. Shipping is just $1.79.

Create the number of accounts at shutterfly that you need depending upon the number of residents you have. Upload the modified photographs to Shutterfly and order prints!

That’s it! Your resident’s will love them!

Tips:

Use a 3 MP camera

Take day-time photographs for best results
