The Roommate Conflict Assessment Survey: Consultant Information

The Assessment Survey and Data Base

Reslife.Net has consulted with Dr. Stephen St. Onge, Ph.D., in the development of The Roommate Conflict Assessment Survey and Data Base.

Dr. St. Onge currently serves as the Vice President for Student Services at Clinton Community College and as an adjunct faculty member at Plattsburgh State University teaching developmental theory. He has also served as the Associate Director for Residence Life at Syracuse University, and as an adjunct faculty member in Higher Education at Syracuse University. He has received a B.S. degree in Business Administration from the University of Vermont, an M.A. from Bowling Green State University in College Student Personnel, and a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from Syracuse University. His doctoral research focused on identifying the factors directly and indirectly supporting the intellectual development of students involved in learning community programs. Steve has been active in supporting research and assessment, and has published over 25 works focusing on assessment, learning communities and the application of student development theory. Steve currently serves as the Associate Editor of the Journal of College and University Student Housing.

Mediation Training and Tips for Response

Reslife.Net has consulted with Dr. Robert Mosier, Ph.D., in the development of the mediation training module and the tips for responding to a roommate conflict, that are sent to RAs when the Roommate Conflict Assessment Survey has been completed.

Bob Mosier has a Ph.D in Counseling Psychology and worked for seven years as the Associate Director of the Counseling Center at the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point. While at UWSP, Bob worked in a split assignment teaching in the Psychology Department as an Assistant Professor of Psychology where he instructed a Psychology of Adjustment course that focused on conflict resolution and interpersonal skills.

Bob has worked in residential living since 1978 until his retirement in 2005. During his tenure he served as a Residence Life Psychologist, an Associate Director of Residential Living, and the Director of Residential Living.

Bob has had extensive experience working with hall directors and RAs, providing training sessions and consulting on mediation and conflict resolution issues.
